All About ConnitoArt.net

As a professional fine artist based in New York, Leslie Connito is always looking for the next opportunity to translate life experiences into art. Since the 1980's, Leslie has led a life fully devoted to the arts. Through a meticulous approach to creating fine art, writing and producing murder mysteries, and writing and illustrating children's books, she has made a strong and positive impression in the arts.

Leslie Connito's art reflects everyday life and includes snippets of culture, politics, history, music, art history and the like, which are painted under the images. She produces portraits, landscapes, and interiors, with a variety of mediums including oil paint, encaustic, cold wax, watercolor, prints, charcoal and graphite, photography and mixed media.
Leslie Connito's paintings, drawings and prints, are layered with meaning. Some of the images sample contemporary human intellect and social icons which become more apparent than the partially submerged, archaic representations (ie: maps, mollusks, dictators...). Conscience is examined through the layering and focusing of these images which reflect our history in evolution while also demonstrating the way we recall and interpret our intellect and emotion in the process and viewing of painting. The choice of images and the manner in which they are combined represent a collective memory. Images swim in and out of the paintings connecting in consistent continuation of motion and time while reflecting the nature and process of evolution. The interaction of all the parts of the paintings parallel the fast-paced experiences of contemporary life. In a subtle, sarcastic, and simplistic approach, the humor often defines man's insignificant desires and needs, his greed, his edifices, politics, and reflection on the environment.
Leslie Connito is a published writer. She has written and illustrated several children’s books. She is a poet, and has also created and performed 9 Murder Mystery Dinner Parties.
